LIVERPOOL. — Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted by the “tireless” work of Luis Suarez following the striker’s hat-trick in a 4-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.
The Uruguay international’s treble, his first at Anfield, saw him score twice before half-time on Saturday and added another 10 minutes after the break.
James Morrison pulled one back for the Baggies before Daniel Sturridge scored Liverpool’s fourth goal.
Suarez walked off to a standing ovation — just under three months after accusing the club of failing to honour a deal that would allow him to join a Champions League side after a reported £40 million plus offer from Arsenal was rebuffed by Liverpool.
However, Rodgers was confident all that was now behind both the club and player.
“It was a difficult summer for him but it was for everyone and we managed as a club and he has managed himself well and he has come out the other side performing as he always done,” said the manager.
“I knew once I had got the commitment from him in the summer he has been great.
“He is a tireless worker and I knew if he stayed it was going to be the case of working in training as he’s always done. — AFP.
