GWANDA’S Content Creators Connect may have been designed to celebrate Zimbabwe’s growing community of digital creators, but fashion model and designer Wonderful Rohan Sibanda made sure the spotlight extended beyond the stage.
Sibanda turned heads at the event with a striking all-black ensemble that brought an unmistakable red-carpet feel to the gathering, blending bold fashion with symbolism and a message about how people should treat one another.
As he moved around the venue, his carefully styled look quickly became a talking point, setting him apart in a room filled with some of Zimbabwe’s popular content creators.
However, beneath the dramatic appearance was a deliberate message. Sibanda said he chose black to represent the complexion of black people, while the safety pins incorporated into his outfit symbolised the need for people to be mindful of their actions and words towards others.
“The inspiration behind my outfit was about black people. That’s why I chose the colour black, which represents our complexion,” he said.
“The safety pins represent our hearts as black people, which simply means that, as black people, we should be very careful whenever we are talking or whatever we do to other people.”
The outfit therefore became more than a fashion statement, transforming his appearance into a visual expression of identity, responsibility and self-awareness.
For Sibanda, fashion is an extension of his creativity and a platform through which he can communicate ideas. A chef by profession, he also works as a waiter while pursuing his passion for modelling and fashion. His creative portfolio spans fashion, pageantry and commercial modelling, while he also works as a part-time designer.
His experience in the modelling industry includes being crowned Mr Zimbabwe International Best Project in 2022 and Mr King International Zimbabwe in 2023.
Sibanda said his various creative pursuits have given him an opportunity to explore different sides of himself.
