TOP Romanian–Hungarian coach Csaba Laszlo, who has experience coaching in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa leagues, is keen on getting the Warriors job.
The 59-year-old has one of the best CVs out of the reported over 30 gaffers who have applied for the biggest coaching job in the country.
Armed with the UEFA Pro Licence and a degree in Sport Science, Laszla has previously had stints as the national team for Uganda, Lithuania and Hungary.
He has also led Hungarian club Ferencvaros Budapest in the group stages of both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa league group stages.
Laszlo, who is fluent in English, German, Hungarian, Romanian, Spanish and Italian has also won several top awards in European football, bagging the manager of the year in the Scottish Premiership in 2009, three years after achieving the same feat in the Hungarian top-flight.
Although the ZIFA Normalisation Committee haven’t revealed neither the identity nor the number of prospective Warriors coaches who have applied for the job, Laszlo’s agent who is stationed in the country, told The Herald that he submitted the CV of the European coach.
“I can confirm that Laszlo has entered the race for the Warriors coaching job” he said.
“We submitted his CV just days after the job was advertised by the ZIFA Normalisation Committee. He is a highly-experienced and qualified coach who has travelled the length and breadth of the world.
“He has coached in the group stages of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
“He is also fluent in six languages having coached in Lithuania, Uganda, Hungary, Scotland, Romania, Slovakia, Germany and other European countries.
“He has also won top accolades in his illustrious coaching career including being named the manager of the year in the Scottish Premiership while he was leading one of the biggest teams in that country, Dundee.
“He is hoping to capture the Warriors job and his philosophy of coaching could suit what we need as a country going forward”. Laszlo joins fellow European coaches including Frank Nuttal of Scotland, Macedonian Gjoko Hadzievski and Baltemar Brito of Portugal who have also applied for the Warriors coaching job. Brito currently coaches Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log leaders Highlanders and has gone for 19 games without tasting defeat.
And Laszlo will be hoping that he gets the job in a country where German coach, the late German Reinhard Fabisch is widely regarded as the best ever coach to be at the helm of the Warriors after his exploits with the Dream Team in the 90s.
Fabisch’s methods of coaching were so good that each time the national team would be playing at home the stadium would fill hours before kick-off.
With top players such as Francis Shonhayi, Vitalis Takawira, Peter Ndlovu and Agent Sawu among others, Fabisch’s side rarely lost a match at home and he remains the only national senior team’s coach to have been ranked eighth in the continent.
