A ROOKIE artist who is trying to navigate the entertainment industry as a gospel artist, Morgan Lato of Karoi, has urged music promoters to cast their nets wider and focus on small towns where raw talent is in abundance.
Lato said it was a big challenge for aspiring artists from small towns like Karoi to be recognised by music promoters.
“It is very difficult to be noticed by music promoters if you come from rural areas or small towns.
“People from rural areas have always been looked down upon.
“So, it would be a tall order for one to navigate his way up to the top in the music industry.
“Another factor is that there is big business in bigger towns than here.”
The 30-year-old says he became serious with music two years ago.
“I started singing at a tender age while at Kapiri Primary School before moving to Kachiva for my secondary education and finishing at Charles Clack High School.
“I recorded my first song at Cymplex Music while Nyika Ino was recorded at Malon Tee and finally Hamheno at Makumbe Productions.
“God is the one who inspired and motivated me to venture into music.
“There is no need for one to take drugs in order to get high on stage.
“Music needs a sober mind, “ said Lato.
Lato is married to Melissa Babytin and they have two children – Blanchard and Legacy or Tamiranashe.
