AWARD-WINNING artist Keith Zenda believes that the “Roots and Horizons” exhibition, held recently, was a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant talent of Zimbabwean artists to both local and international audiences.
The exhibition, which was held from Friday to Tuesday last week, saw strong interest and engagements, with over half of the paintings on display selling to a diverse range of collectors.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Zenda said the exhibition provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work globally, highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage and creativity.
SwissZimHeritage, the organisation behind the exhibition, aims to nurture local talent, foster growth, and create opportunities for artists to gain exposure beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.
“The Roots and Horizons exhibition has been incredibly rewarding. We’ve seen strong interest and engagement from both local and international audiences, and it’s been gratifying to see artists connect with collectors and art lovers.
“We’re pleased to report that we sold more than half of the paintings exhibited at _Roots and Horizons_.
“The response has been encouraging, reflecting the talent of our featured artists and the appeal of the works to a diverse range of collectors.
“The purpose of the SwissZimHeritage _Roots and Horizons_ exhibition was to provide a platform for local emerging artists to showcase their work to international audiences. “SwissZimHeritage is a movement dedicated to nurturing local talent, fostering growth, and creating opportunities for artists to gain exposure beyond Zimbabwe.
“Our goals were to highlight the creativity and talent of Zimbabwean artists, facilitate connections between local artists and global art collectors, and contribute to the artists’ professional development.
“We were hopeful about generating interest and sales, and we’re pleased with the response – it exceeded our expectations in terms of engagement and sales.”
Zenda added:
“We’re excited about building on the momentum of _Roots and Horizons_.
“Plans include continuing to support our featured artists, exploring new collaborations, and preparing for future exhibitions and showcases that further promote Zimbabwean art internationally.
“We’re also looking at ways to deepen our engagement with both local and global art communities.”
The exhibition featured artists like Tonderai Mujuru, who is talented artist specialising in wildlife art, celebrating the beauty and diversity of African fauna with a focus on conservation.
Florah Maphosa, who is known for her vibrant artwork celebrating women’s strength and empowerment, with notable pieces like “Blooming Strength” and “Love Veild,” also presented her work.
