Rugby board to hold general meeting

THE Matabeleland Rugby Football Board (MRFB) will on Monday hold a general meeting to discuss their new season and their participation in the Gold Cup qualifiers.

Top on the agenda will be the issue of splitting the Midlands and Matabeleland leagues into separate entities for the upcoming new season and mapping out the criteria that will be used to choose a team to take on their Harare counterparts for the sole ticket to the Gold Cup tournament.

The Gold Cup is a South Africa Rugby Union initiative and every year the Zimbabwe Rugby Union sends a representative side to participate in the event.

This year’s edition will be the fourth since the initial Community Cup changed its name to Gold Cup in 2012 and will be held from September 10 to 29.

The qualifiers for the Gold Cup are going to be held in June at a venue yet to be confirmed.
