AS the rugby season got underway a few weeks ago, the local rugby scene is promising to explode with more action lined up in the coming weeks, giving all the sport’s faithful the chance to witness exhilarating action.
The city’s ceremonial home of rugby, Hartsfield Rugby Grounds will be the battle zone when the two-day 2024 Unforgettable High School Rugby Festival roars to life on March 27 and 28 in what is expected to be a high-end school boy rugby fest.
Not only will it be an entertaining day for rugby fans, it also promises to be a family-friendly event with loads of entertainment on the line. Everyone will get the opportunity to witness the crème de la crème of schoolboy rugby in the country.

The Unforgettable High School Rugby Festival will not only be for local (Bulawayo) teams only but will also feature others from Harare, Mutare, Midlands, Plumtree and some from outside the country. There will also be teams from as far as Botswana and Zambia.
One of the tournament organisers and former Zimbabwe Sevens head coach Gilbert “Gidza” Nyamutsamba said such festivals are crucial to the development and growth of rugby at the junior level.
Nyamutsamba added that the festival, which is one of the highlights of the rugby season, will also play a huge role in drawing other young players to take up the sport, widening the talent pool that is already there in the city and country at large.
