ZANU PF Harare Province is targeting to garner over 600 000 votes for President Mnangagwa and grab all seats in next month’s elections.
This came out during an inter-district meeting that was attended by all Zanu PF aspiring candidates and leaders from all 287 districts at the revolutionary party’s headquarters in Harare yesterday.
This also comes at a time when the party has set up 3 500 teams to conduct polling station-based voter mobilisation to canvass grassroots support and deliver a resounding victory for the ruling party.
The meeting was part of preparations for the Presidential Star Rally to be held on Wednesday the 9th of August 2023 at Robert Mugabe Square in Harare.
Speaking during the meeting, Harare Province chairperson Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa said the party wants to beat the opposition smart and clean in a peaceful environment.
“We want to win every seat in Harare and every ward in Harare. The mood is electric, everyone is waiting for the 23rd of August to vote for his Excellency President Mnangagwa and team Zanu PF, on the ground we are there every day we are campaigning for the President and the party and we are confident of victory in Harare Metropolitan province.”
Harare Metropolitan Province has approximately over 900 000 registered voters and Zanu PF is expecting to get a huge chunk of votes from the province.
In line with President Mnangagwa’s philosophy, Cde Masimirembwa implored all candidates to embrace peace and unity.
“It is important that those who lost during primary elections join hands and campaign for the party, secondly in the footsteps of our President we are a peace loving province so we say no to violence we want peaceful elections we want to beat the opposition smart and clean in a peaceful environment.”
Turning to the star rally, Cde Masimirembwa said preparations for the rally are now at an advanced stage.
Zanu PF Politburo member Cde Charles Tavengwa said they were expecting a huge turnout.
“We want to fill the whole area of Robert Mugabe Square, they must feel our presence because everyone is ready to support the ruling party and vote out all opposition candidates.”
Of late Harare province was thought to be an opposition bastion, but due to opposition incompetence, Zanu PF has been gaining support.
“This Wednesday we are going to show the opposition that we are rallying behind Zanu PF, numbers don’t lie, we are going shock them,” Cde Sharon Hamainesu from Harare South said.
A total of 121 out of 146 signature projects have been completed while others are at different stages in Harare Metropolitan Province as the Second Republic continues to display a ground-breaking commitment to transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle income economy by 2030.
