ZIMBABWEAN striker Evans Rusike has been tied down to a two-year contract by South African Absa Premiership side Maritzburg United in a move meant to repel intense interest from other clubs.

According to Kickoff.com magazine Rusike extended his stay at the club on Tuesday.

Speculation has been rife on the future of the striker despite club chairman Farook Kadodia continually insisting the player was not for sale.

The deal has finally put to rest debate around the future of Rusike while at the same time warding off continuous inquiries from a number of teams.

a?I was happy to join the club last season and help them survive relegation. Now that the club has exercised the option to extend my contract, I have to stay focused.

a?I have a job here. Itas an opportunity for me to keep improving on my game.a?

The clubas marketing and communications manager Brian Zuma added: a?Evans is our player and weare still expecting a lot from him.

a?He is not for sale until the time is right, and if and when that happens, proper channels will have to be followed.a? . .
