Ruwa Local Board has ordered vendors and informal traders operating from undesignated areas to vacate their sites by tomorrow, warning that illegal structures would be removed with the assistance of law enforcement authorities.
In a notice to vendors and informal traders, Ruwa Local Board town secretary Mr Kumbirai Madanhi encouraged those affected to immediately remove illegal structures, makeshift stalls and tables to salvage their property.
“In the event of non-compliance, council will proceed to remove all illegal structures with the assistance of law enforcement authorities,” reads the notice.
The council said vendors seeking legitimate operating spaces should register with the Housing and Community Services offices at Ruwa Local Board for allocation.
This comes as Harare City Council has also announced almost similar measures as it implements “Operation Chenesa Harare”.
The programme started on Wednesday but is expected to get into full swing from tomorrow.
