RYAN Cairns is hoping to continue his good form in the second round of the Mopani Redpath Zambia Open, which got underway yesterday at Nkana Golf Club in Copperbelt, Zambia.
The local golfer managed to finish the first round tied in 15th place after a one-under-par 71 yesterday.
Three Zimbabwean professional golfers are part of the second Sunshine Tour event after the Zimbabwe Open held recently at Royal Harare.
Cairns, who was the best-placed local at the Zimbabwe Open, was tied with 16 other players as they go into today’s round.
The Borrowdale Brooke-based professional will tee off in the morning playing alongside his partners Tyron Ferreira and Steve Surry.
Mark Williams finished the first round on two-over-par 74. Tongo Charamba was on five-over-par 77.
Former Zimbabwe Open champion Theunis Spangenburg was the overnight leader after carding a six-under 66.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe amateur golf team finished in third place at the 2015 Zone VI championships in Uganda.
The team, led by Visitor Mapwanya, were behind surprise winners Uganda and South Africa.
