SA cops round up illegal immigrants

South African police have arrested over 150 people, among them Zimbabweans, for violating immigration laws. It is understood that the ongoing operation is covering areas around the border post, N1 North of Musina, Musina Central Business District and malls. Police spokesperson for Limpopo Province Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, said the operation was mainly focused on crime prevention and road safety.

“A total of 26 people were arrested for various offences, ranging from assault, robbery, dealing and possession of dagga, theft out of motor vehicle, to driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition we arrested 155 undocumented foreign nationals and 101 traffic summons were issued.”

He said suspects will appear in Musina Magistrate Court.
