SOUTH AFRICAN gospel artist, Jamaine Adonis, who is now a born again christian has said God called him to minister to young people, after coming through from a drug abuse environment.

The 26- year- old who is turning 27 soon, told H- Metro, young people are the future leaders and have the power to change a nation and generations.

He is in the country with a group of Global Network for Evangelists (GNE) to take part in the Live Zimbabwe Festival that exploded into life on Wednesday at Gadzema grounds.

Adonis said he used to make circular music before turning to gospel ministry.

He comes from a background of Drug abuse.

His ministry back home is based on helping addicts come out of addiction.

“ I have a group called Jesus is Lord, which we basically established back in 2020 with the help of my brother.

“ We basically help many addicts to come out of addiction,” said Adonis.

He added.

“ So, we try our best to recover as many people as possible so that they can find recovery, not for themselves, but for the families, their homes and the whole community,” he said.

Adonis said he ventured into music, he started seeing the impact of music especially among young people.

He started his musical journey for God back in 2021.

Prior to 2021, I sang secular music.  So I started serving God back in 2019, that’s when I became born again.

“I had a personal encounter with Jesus and my life changed,” he said.

Adonis said he knew God wanted him to make Christian music.

He has recorded probably over 52 songs and has three albums to date and four EPs out.

“ I also have a bunch of singles that are out,” said Adonis.

He recently released three EP songs about three weeks ago called You will.

His first album is called Psalms 23.

“ It has 13 songs on it. Basically, the title Psalms 23, says the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want.

“ What I am trying to say in that album is that nothing in this world can satisfy me like the presence of God.

“ God is my life and who is he in my life,” he said.

Adonis started doing the album back in 2021 and that was his first album.

His second album is titled Revelation Season while the third one is called Revelation Season two.

“ I am now actually working on my fourth album.

My music has been well received better than I expected,” he said.

Adonis has noticed that a lot of young people have a love for his type of music that he makes and its impact on the younger younger ones.

“I am actually very impressed on the impact that it has on the people in my country,” he said.

Adonis said he is very happy and excited to be in a hospitable country like Zimbabwe.

“ Zimbabwe is my third nation to visit. The people here are very hospitable and welcoming.

“I have been to Botswana before and Zambi,” said Adonis.

However, he has done most of his travelling in his home of birth.

“ Recently, I have partnered with (GNE) and we have been going through those countries and sharing the gospel and ministry.

“ That’s my journey in a nutshell, “
