SA happy with GPA progress

Ambassador Mavimbela yesterday said the constitution-making process proved that Zimbabweans could find each other without external involvement. He said this after paying a courtesy call on Acting President Mujuru at her Munhumutapa offices.
“We congratulate the Vice President for the progress that has been made with the constitution,” Ambassador Mavimbela said.
“We are happy with the progress that is being made by the parties in the inclusive Government.
“We know differences will always be there but generally there is agreement.”
During the meeting, Ambassador Mavimbela said they also discussed the Sadc Summit to be held in Maputo on August 17.
He said the facilitator was expected to give feedback to the summit on the progress that has been made.
The facilitation team, he said, may come to Zimbabwe before the summit.
Ambassador Mavimbela said progress in the constitution-making exercise was going to determine whether the facilitation team would come to Zimbabwe before the summit.
South Africa, he said, also wanted to learn from Zimbabwe on how to improve the country’s education sector.
“We also talked about the election of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (African Union Commission chairperson) how good it is to the continent,” Ambassador Mavimbela said.
Egyptian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Bassem Khalil, also paid a courtesy call on VP Mujuru.
He expressed his country’s desire to improve bi-lateral relations between the two countries.
“We discussed ways and means on how to foster our relations further.
“We are likely to have a joint commission before the end of the year, probably in November.
“We are looking at enhancing relations in agriculture because Egypt is very experienced in agriculture while Zimbabwe is coming up. Egypt will be sending an agriculture expert here.
“Other areas that we want to enhance relations are in culture, diplomacy, information and communication technology and also in the field of trade,” Ambassador Khalil said.
He added that Zimbabwe could soon receive Egyptian agriculture products.
