SA level series against Lady Chevrons

Lady Chevrons suffered a defeat in their second T20 match against South Africa Emerging at Groenkloff, Pretoria.

South Africa’s victory levelled the five-match series 1-1 after Zimbabwe won the first match on Sunday.
Zimbabwe are using the series to prepare for next month’s World Cup Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Zimbabwe won the first game of the five-match series by two wickets. The Lady Chevrons were set a target of 108 by the South Africans and they chased it down in exactly 20 overs, winning with the last ball of the match.

Josephine Nkomo starred with the ball for Zimbabwe, taking two wickets and conceding just 11 runs in her four overs. Other wicket takers for the Lady Chevrons were Audrey Mazvishaya, Kelis Ndlovu, Precious Marange and Loreen Tshuma, who all took one wicket each.

With the bat, Pellagia Mujaji top scored for Zimbabwe, getting 28 not out, while captain Mary-Anne Musonda scored 14 to guide their team to a two-wicket win.

In the second match, South Africa batting first scored 127-5 in their 20 overs with their top scorer, Anneke Bosch getting 46 runs. Nomvelo Sibanda was the pick of the Zimbabwean bowlers, getting figures of 1-16, followed by Loryn Phiri who recorded 1-17. Loreen Tshuma also took one wicket, conceding 23 runs.

Zimbabwe’s openers, Chipo Tiripano and Sharne Mayers started strongly with the bat, scoring 24 runs in the first two overs. However, the batting collapsed and the Lady Chevrons were bowled out for 83 runs in just over 16 overs.
