TWO second half tries from Godfrey Muzanargwo and Brandon Mudzekenyedzi were enough to send Zimbabwe to their first World Cup since 1991.

The Sables stuck to their guns to beat the Welwichias 30-28 in what was an intense game in the Pearl of Africa, Uganda.

Muzanargwo, who started the match at prop, in place of the injured Kudakwashe “Goofy” Nyakufaringwa scored his try in the 45th minute, and flyhalf IanPrior successfully converted, making it 23-16 in favour of the Sables.

The game had gone to the break tied at 16 all.

In the 58th minute, Mudzekenyedzi sealed the game for Pieter Benade’s men, despite a comeback scare from Namibia.

The Welwichias scored a single try and converted it but Zimbabwe managed to defend the remaining 10 minutes.

Namibia were left to rue a penalty that they missed from their own half, that would have given them a point lead.
