SOUTHERN African Development Community (Sadc) Facilitator and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will return to Lesotho for two days as the February 28 polls near. The Deputy President, according to the Presidency, is scheduled to visit Lesotho yesterday. This visit comes after a meeting in Pretoria with President Jacob Zuma in his capacity as Chair of the Sadc Organ on Defence and Politics and the country’s coalition leaders, earlier this week.
In the meeting, President Zuma had directed that the Deputy President Ramaphosa undertakes a visit to Lesotho as soon as possible to interact with various role-players within Lesotho, with a view to addressing issues raised during the Pretoria meeting.
The Lesotho government delegation for its part had raised issues around the security situation; reported violations of the Maseru Facilitation and Security Accords, as well as requests for Sadc to consider further support for the brought forward elections scheduled for 28 February 2015. — AllAfrica.
