DYNAMOS legend Edward “Duduza” Sadomba has challenged academies to up their game for them to supply quality into the football ecosystem.
The former Warriors forward was an accomplished star having been groomed at Agatha Shenneti academy and later Harare United before making waves locally with Dynamos and eventually with Al Hilal in Sudan and in Libya.
He knows quite well the significance of a well-structured academy with a well-developed curriculum.
Speaking at the Jadel Football Academy Showroom opening ceremony where he was the guest of honour in Harare yesterday noted the strides which the institution is making.
“I am really impressed with the extra mile that Jadel Football Academy is going in their bid to be a model football development oasis.
“They are always ticking the right boxes, all round. They have become a perfect example of how to run an academy and this should inspire all of us across the country to do likewise.
“It’s not every day that you see a local football team, let alone an academy, incorporating a showroom in their operations,’’ Sadomba said.
“That’s professionalism and a world class move. This is how we should be doing it across the board. I salute the academy for the splendid work they are doing.
“Structurally, this academy has also nailed it by developing international standard footballers, some of whom played in international tournaments in China two months ago.
“I wish to see all the academies in the country doing the right thing and supplying the market with polished products for the good of our football.
“We need quality in the leagues so that people can get to enjoy the game once more. That’s our plea and nothing else.”
Jadel has of late been making waves after setting its footprint in Zimbabwe following its director Walter “Ringers” Musanhu’s decision to establish a satellite back home. He started the nursery in China where he is based back in 2017 and it has grown to be one of the biggest academies in the Asian country with over 23 nationalities affiliated to it.
Back home, the nursery has grown in leaps and bounds, with branches dotted all over the country.
“As Jadel FA, we are humbled with the support we continue to get from the Zimbabwean football fraternity.
“We are determined to transform lives using football. The establishment of Jadel FA Showroom is our first step towards commercialisation. We want to see the academy sustaining itself at some point, eventually,” Musanhu said.
The ceremony was also graced by renowned former Dynamos midfielder and coach Clayton Munemo.
