SAKUNDA Holdings chief operations officer, Mberikwazvo Chitambo has become the latest addition to the Castle Lager Premiership outfit, Manica Diamonds leadership structures.
The Gem Boys have appointed Chitambo, a well-known goal oriented business executive and top notch banker, as their patron.
The latest development, meant to inject stability and eminence in the club leadership structures, comes hard on the heels of Sunday’s clash against Dynamos at Sakubva Stadium.
Chitambo was appointed yesterday by Manicaland Premiership side as they continue to restructure the team for stability and success in the current season.
The Evans Kamombo-financed outfit recently appointed ZANU PF Youth League deputy national political commissar, Taurai Kundishaya as its secretary general.
The club announced the appointment in a statement yesterday.
“Congratulations to our new patron, Mberikwazvo Chitambo. We extend our deepest gratitude for rallying behind Manicaland Diamonds FC. Your support leadership and belief in our vision inspire us to reach greater heights,” reads the statement.
Since the change of ownership, Manica Diamonds have shown signs of revival under new president, Kamombo, whose leadership has restored confidence among supporters and attracted renewed interest from potential sponsors.
Kamombo is on record emphasising his wish to support President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind by purchasing the team to keep Premiership football in Manicaland Province.
Manica Diamonds are facing Dynamos on Sunday at Sakubva Stadium in a potentially explosive encounter.
