A HAIR salon owner in Bulawayo’s Central Business District was recently caught red handed while in a lesbian sexual act by husband, it has been learnt.
Loretta Nocawe Nyoni was caught by her husband of five years, Nkosiyabo Mandla Mpofu while engaging in the same sex act with her alleged lover Sindisiwe Dube.
According to sources who witness the incident, the husband Mpofu had been getting numerous reports that his wife was a lesbian and had since been using her salon- Loloe’s makeup and nail bar- which he financed for it to open, as a conduit for members of the LGBTI community.
The two lovers were exposed by disgruntled workers at the salon who had been witnessing the affair going on for some time.
It reportedly emerged that their marriage, so seemingly solid, had been overshadowed by secrets and unspoken desires.
Mpofu is also a prominent businessman and a member of the ruling Zanu-PF.
“Mpofu had been receiving reports that his wife was a lesbian but initially he dismissed it, although it appears Loretta’s family knew all along and forced her into marrying, where she got pregnant and delivered their daughter Nandipha Nyoni when she was just 17.
“The salon was established for Loretta by Mpofu and which is when she started having some freedom to interact with people of the LGBTI community, it is then that she met her girlfriend Sindisiwe and their relationship went undiscovered for some time,” said the source.
The source revealed that people who were renting chairs at the salon at first ignored Loretta and Sindisiwe’s affair but became annoyed when members of the LGBTI community started to frequent the salon and would openly flaunt their sexual preferences
“On the fateful day, one of the girls at the salon tipped off Mpofu that the two had ‘hooked up’ d decided to investigate the matter for himself which is when he caught the two red handed engaging in a lesbian sexual act,” added the source.
It is alleged that when the two were caught, the husband became violent beating the two to a pulp and also threatened that he would take their daughter and use his influence that she did not see her again.
“Mpofu was angry that a salon which he had funded from his pocket was now being used by the LGBTI community and that these had also seemingly snatched his wife from him.
“As it stands we last saw, Loretta and her daughter on that fateful day, we are not even sure what happened to them, her mobile phone is not even going through, while the salon has also been shut down ever since,” said the source.
Loretta’s girlfriend, Sindisiwe is reportedly in police custody assisting authorities with investigations.
Further investigations by this publication is that Loretta discovered she was gay when she was in form one and straight after completing high school she was forced into marrying Mpofu by her uncle Herbert Ndlovu.
Efforts to get a comment from Ndlovu or Mpofu were fruitless as they both said they do not discuss family matters in the media.
