A brand new Samsung Tablet 4 is in store for the winner of the Mr Bulawayo bodybuilding contest at Elite 400 on Saturday. One of the sponsors of the show Thompson Mpala said he was making available the gadget as a way of motivating bodybuilders to work harder. Mpala, who is also a muscle flexor who won Mr Bulawayo in 1995 disclosed yesterday that he had decided to bankroll the event after he realised that the sport did not have much in terms of sponsors. Besides the phone Mpala, a businessman who is into mining, will also provide supplements to the top three in each category.

“The overall winner of Mr Bulawayo is getting a Samsung Tab 4 that is guaranteed, there is also supplements for the top three in each category. I am trying to bring change and appreciation to the sport. I want the bodybuilders to feel that you can get something out of this sport, that it can be a career to other people,’’ said Mpala.

Some of the sponsors of Saturday’s show to be staged during the day are Clarion Insurance, Sports Zone and Body Works Gym. Four categories are being contested for, these being the senior men, junior male, men’s fitness and the same section for women.

Lovemore Munyamana is the defending champion but he has shown reluctance to participate in this year’s competition so as it to give others a chance. Shantel Greenland heads into the competition as the Ms Bulawayo fitness title holder where she faces a challenge from Mitchell Matsito and Selina Manuel.
