Sandra Ndebele says she can’t wait to participate in the 45th Uhuru Gala, scheduled for April 18 at Mutora Grounds in Gokwe, Midland province.
The Bulawayo-born dancer and singer expressed her excitement to the Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, stating that she is eager to perform.
“I can’t wait to perform in Gokwe, where the rural community has been yearning for such great events,” she stated.
“It’s always a marvel to see people in rural areas being exposed to big stages, lights, and powerful sound. These galas are more than just musical celebrations; they represent history being made in our country.”
Sandy, as the performer is fondly known in music circles, is no stranger to national events. Her inclusion in the Gokwe line-up has come at a time when the government has decentralised national celebrations.
“I last performed in Gokwe over 10 years ago, and you can imagine how I feel being reunited with my fans there.
“We are going to deliver our best performance of the night in Gokwe. On that note, I would like to commend the government for this noble idea because people in rural areas were not used to this phenomenon.
“It also shows we have the rural folks at heart because national events are being held in every part of Zimbabwe,” she remarked.
She assured attendees and those watching online and on television of a night to remember.
“We are promising fireworks in Gokwe, and we are busy with rehearsals.”
Running under the theme “Zim@ 45: Devolve and Develop Together towards Vision 2030,” the event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Zimbabwean history.
Sandra will share the stage with notable artistes including Suluman Chimbetu, Mark Ngwazi, Jah Master, Andy Muridzo, Chief Hwenje, Tendai Dembo, Sasha Madhuve, and Argatha Murudzwa.
Judging by the line-up, the Uhuru bash promises thrills from start to finish.
While Sandra has already promised fireworks, a lot is expected from Suluman Chimbetu, undoubtedly the main act of the night. Taking a cue from his late father, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu, who embraced main functions, Suluman will be expected to deliver all his artistic verve at this show.
He is no stranger to State functions, where he is known for leaving a lasting impact.
The Gokwe invitation has also come at a time when he is set to release his much-anticipated album titled “Tsapo.”Chief Hwenje, known for his top-notch performances at national events, is once again expected to woo thousands of fans from his province.
Hailing from the Midlands, it will be an honor for the lanky performer to entertain his kith and kin.
Ngwazi, a crowd favourite, has been afforded yet another opportunity to shine.
Backed by the superb Njanja Express, Ngwazi fuses his music with humour and will strive to prove that he still has the mojo, despite keeping a low profile in recent weeks.
Dembo, like fine wine, only improves with age, and he is sure to impress his fans once again.
The Barura Express leader has a track record of delivering stellar performances, ensuring that the audience leaves with lasting memories.
The same can be said for Sasha Madhuve, who has made significant contributions to the music industry over the years.Inspired by her late aunt, Edna “Mbuya Madhuve” Chizema, Sasha advocates for African culture and promotes Ubuntu and African tradition through the mbira instrument.
Her presence in this line-up adds variety, showcasing the depth of talent in Zimbabwean music.
This long list of performers would be incomplete without mentioning Andy Muridzo and Jah Master, both of whom have consistently captivated audiences.
Gospel enthusiasts should look forward to Argatha Murudzwa, whose career continues to blaze a trail of success with each passing year.
With over 20 years of experience in the industry, she is a creative genius whose artistry knows no bounds.
As for Sandra, she has nothing left to prove, having transitioned from a dancer to a well-rounded musician with much to offer. Her commitment to her craft and undeniable patriotism have propelled her to new heights, even leading her to become a councillor in Bulawayo.
Ultimately, the 45th Uhuru celebrations are not just an event; they represent the unity, strength, and resilience of the Zimbabwean people.
As Sandra prepares to take the stage, she embodies the spirit of hope and celebration that these festivities represent, promising an unforgettable night for all.
