THE 18th Edition of the Sanganai Hlanganani Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo 2025 culminated in a resounding success this Saturday, transitioning from the exhibition halls to the pristine greens of the Mutare golf course for a celebratory golf day.
The event has seen enthusiastic participation from twenty teams, serving as a perfect networking platform, blending business with leisure against the backdrop of the Eastern Highlands.
Leading the proceedings was Manicaland’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, who officially welcomed participants and performed the honorary tee-off.
In his address, Advocate Mugadza seized the opportunity to extend an invitation to potential investors, highlighting the province’s vast untapped potential.
“We warmly invite investors to come and invest in Manicaland, particularly in hotel infrastructure. Our province is endowed with incredible natural facilities that are a solid base for tourism, from the Nyanga mountains to the Save Valley. These endowments are ripe for exploitation and present a mutually beneficial opportunity for development,” said Adv Mugadza.
The golf day is strategically positioned to promote the growing niche of sports tourism.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tongai Mnangagwa, emphasised this initiative as a key part of the ministry’s broader strategy.
“This golf day is a critical component of our sports tourism cluster promotion. As a Ministry, we are fully committed to defining tourism in its broadest sense and ensuring that every single cluster, from cultural to sports, is vigorously promoted. We operate on the principle that everyone who visits a place different from their own is a tourist, and we aim to cater to all interests,” said Dep Min Mnangagwa.
As the golf clubs are packed away, the final curtain for the 2025 Expo will fall with a vibrant beach party scheduled for later today at the iconic Birchenough Bridge, promising a festive close to a event that has successfully showcased Zimbabwe’s diverse tourism offerings to the world.
