THE Southern African Power Pool (SAPP)’s coordination centre manager, Dr Lawrence Musaba, has died.
Dr Musaba died on March 14, 2016 after a long illness in Harare where he was based.
He will be laid to rest in his native, Lusaka, Zambia on March 18.
In a statement, SAPP described Dr Musaba as “as a true champion and had great passion for the energy sector in Southern Africa”.
“He devoted his life and was dedicated to the principles of fairness in addressing the challenges of the power situation in the Southern African Development Community (Sadc).
“We have experienced a great loss to the energy sector in Southern Africa and Africa at large,” said SAPP.
SAPP was created in Lusaka in 1980 with the primary aim of providing reliable and economical electricity supply to consumers of the 12 SAPP members, consistent with the reasonable utilisation of natural resources and the effect on the environment.
