Saul Chaminuka is now the sole candidate for the top job at Bikita Minerals, whose status will be decided in the boardroom again as the battle for promotion in the Zifa Eastern Region Division One league continues.
Chaminuka’s former paymasters Black Rhinos have already appointed Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera as the head coach, which confirmed his departure from the army side.
The Lithium Boys as Bikita Minerals are affectionately known were set to officially announce the coach early in January, but the club went silent when their promotion to the Premiership was put on hold.
Chaminuka was one of three candidates for the top job together with Herbert Maruwa and Joseph Tangaringofa.
Maruwa is now at Harare City and Takaringofa was unveiled at Mwos, also in the Zifa Northern Region Division One league.
Zimpapers Sports understands that Saul Chaminuka has been at the club base in Bikita since last month and is conducting sessions with prospective players.
However, several challenges have arisen which have seen their participation in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League suspended pending the outcome of an appeal lodged by Tenax.
There are reports that Bikita Minerals have not yet offered contracts to anyone from the football team amid suggestions squad members will have to be employed at the parent company as opposed to having two wage bills.
