SAVAGE DOGS STRIKE AGAIN… Girl mauled to death in Nyabira

A 13-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl was ripped apart by three vicious dogs in Nyabira, the latest in a chilling wave of canine killings that has left Zimbabweans in shock.
Caroline Chari met her gruesome end on 29 September while walking home from school with friends at St Mannocks Farm. The marauding pack pounced, forcing the terrified pupils to scatter. Tragically, the dogs caught up with Caroline and fatally mauled her.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl, Caroline Chari, who was mauled to death by three vicious dogs,” national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed in a statement.
Police swiftly arrested the owner of the killer dogs, 50-year-old Gift Jambaya, who allegedly ignored veterinary guidelines. “It is sad to note that the vicious dogs were last vaccinated in 2024 and the owner ignored the Department of Veterinary Services’ 2025 rabies vaccination outreach programme,” said Comm Nyathi.

This latest tragedy follows a string of deadly dog attacks across the country.
• In April 2024, a five-year-old boy in Harare’s Greendale suburb was mauled to death by his neighbour’s Boerboel.
• In January 2025, a Mutare woman, 68, was killed after being savaged by her own pack of unrestrained dogs.
• In July 2025, an elderly man in Norton lost his life after a suspected rabid dog tore into him as he tried to fend it off.

Cops say the pattern is disturbing. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is disturbed by the trend of vicious dogs being allowed to move without a leash, guidance or being kept loose by the owners,” Commissioner Nyathi stressed.
Authorities have now launched a crackdown in partnership with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), local authorities, and the Ministry of Health. “It is the responsibility of dog owners to protect the public and strictly comply with public safety measures,” the police warned.

The public has been urged to report reckless dog owners via the ZRP Complaints Desk on 0242703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197.
Caroline’s death is a grim reminder of the dangers lurking behind suburban gates and farm fences as unleashed dogs continue to turn deadly.
