School authorities block early marriage

Prompt reaction by school authorities foiled an early marriage attempt by a girl (13) who had eloped to her 16-year-old boyfriend. The Form One girl at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in Victoria Falls had co-habited with her boyfriend for three days when police intervened after being alerted by school authorities. The boyfriend is a pupil at Lulu Academy, a private school in the resort town. The girl’s grandmother reported her missing to the school authorities and they quickly alerted the police who then took her back to her grandmother. – The Chronicle.
