THE National Association of Secondary School Heads and National Association of Primary School Heads will be discussing the way forward for schools sport.
NAPH president, Cynthia Khumalo, said they were going to meet, to discuss the way forward.
“First of all, in our case as schools, we have to get greenlight from the PS (Permanent Secretary) to resume,’’ she said.
“It’s like we request for an official letter, from our own Ministry to say can we resume and then, from there, we are going to sit as an executive and see how we can go forward.
“The announcement was only made yesterday, so what we need to do now is to sit down and plan to say how are we going to go forward, in the new normal.
“We will plan for something, it’s possible. We are planning to meet next week, maybe Thursday or Friday, and then we will come up with a roadmap for 2021 and 2022.
“The Naph standing committee is the one that is going to meet first then, from there, we will meet the entire executive.”
Khumalo said despite the tight schedule, on their calendar, there was a possibility of organising some sporting events.
“These children they have been sitting for too long . . . Obviously, we are not going to plan for bigger matches but we can plan something to keep our children fit,” said Khumalo. NASH president, Arthur Maposa, said although there was a lot that needs to be done, with examinations around the corner for some of the students.
‘’It’s a welcome move, it’s very difficult to keep learners at school when they don’t have these activities.
“Now, that the activities are back, we will look into it and sit down and find out the best we can do for them, in this situation.
“We are very excited because to us it’s not all about academics because we know that there are so many learners who have lost out, in terms of showcasing their talent.’’
