bid to recover US$5 500 plus interests in unpaid electricity bills.
In a chamber application filed at the High Court this week, ZETDC claimed the school has failed to settle its electricity bills since last year. “Defendant (Churchill) is in breach of agreement in that it has not been paying for electricity charges accrued in bills forwarded to it by plaintiff. The defendant is indebted to the plaintiff the sum of US$5 475,92,” ZETDC lawyers Muza and Nyapadi Legal Practitioners submitted. The power utility is also demanding a 10 percent collection commission. Justice Anne-Mary Gowora will preside over the case.
In a related case, ZETDC is also suing Highfield Bag, a company in the Workington industrial area for failing to pay a US$16 267 electricity bill.
Justice Susan Mavangira will hear the case. – CR.
