Schools update . . . Glen Norah Infill Primary School

FRIDAY marked a turning point in the history of Glen Norah Infill Primary School. Parents, teachers and learners came face-to-face with modern teaching methods.

A number of ICT players and stakeholders were invited to showcase their prowess in the field. E technology Zimbabwe, an indigenous company, was a major player during the day.

Their interactive display board was a major centre of attraction.

They demonstrated how it can be used in teaching and learning.

This fascinated the invited parents, learners and teachers. The interactive board acts as a big screen computer. The board has Android and word functions.

A number of topics in the school curriculum can be taught in digital format. It also has  child lock functions to control material which learners can be exposed to.

The school development chairperson was on cloud nine, as he hailed the turn out of parents in support of the expo.

The parents agreed to help donate towards the purchase of interactive boards.

According to their sentiments, they proposed to contribute a minimum of US$2 per child monthly. With an enrolment of around 2400, from ECD to Grade 7, this collective idea, if adopted in the parents assembly meeting, will enable the school to buy about two or three interactive boards at one go.

The school SDA chair, Mr. Muchavhaira  is optimistic that, if all stakeholders pool resources and support each other, his executive will be equal to the task.

He  also appealed to the corporate world to come forward and donate to the school.

Glen Norah Infill Primary School is a City of Harare council school which opened its doors for its first enrolment in 1989. It is located in Glen Norah B high density suburb.

Most of its learners come from low income backgrounds.

Among the parents are those who live from hand-to-mouth, especially those from surrounding mushrooming settlements.

In conclusion, the chairperson appealed to everyone to help in this noble venture. He echoed the President’s call that ‘Chikoro chinovakwa nevabereki vacho.’

His dream is to see an improvement of Grade 7 results through ICT.
