WITH many teams in the Zimbabwean Castle Lager Premier League lacking goal scoring force, former Bulawayo City attacker Nkosilomusa Khanye could be a bargain, considering that the striker is a free agent.
The 24-year-old has been unattached since the end of the Batswana Premiership three months ago. He spent six months at Young Stars FC who are a developmental side to Botswana league champions Jwaneng Galaxy home to three Zimbabweans Cleopas Dube, Nqobizitha Masuku and Daniel Msendami.
Before going to Botswana, the forward played for Bulawayo City Football Club from Under-20 level in 2018 where he had a sensational season, scoring 48 goals and providing 21 assists having played 24 matches.
He was then promoted to the club’s first team which was in the Southern Region Division One League where he scored nine goals in 17 matches leading to the team’s promotion to top flight football.
His career hit a downgrade in 2021 when he dropped back to the second tier football division with Quality Foods Football Club but the pacey and powerful striker was unfazed by the move. He played six games and scored five goals.
“When I joined Quality, I knew that people would talk whatever they want and I was prepared for that. My goal was to make sure that I show that I am coming from an advanced level, which I think I did in a space of a couple of months,” said Khanye.
Khanye said he is keeping fit and is hopeful a club will come calling and give him a chance.
Efforts to get a contract in Botswana with his former club failed because of the three cap ruling imposed by that country’s football association.
He was on target half a dozen times from as many games in Botswana last term.
