SCOTT GETS CHAMP MESSI’S JERSEY

SCOTT Sakupwanya is not only celebrating Scottland’s maiden league title.

He now owns the jersey of a legend who is also celebrating his maiden league title in Major League Soccer – Lionel Messi.

The jersey was delivered by Zimbabwe international defender, Teenage Hadebe, in Harare yesterday.

The Warriors star was given the jersey by the World Cup-winning skipper on November 23 after a Major League Soccer match.

Messi’s Inter Miami thrashed Hadebe’s FC Cincinnati 4-0 and the Argentine superstar swapped jerseys with the Warriors’ star after the match.

Hadebe then promised to give the jersey to Sakupwanya in honour of his contribution in developing local football.

Messi went on to win his first MLS Cup with Inter Miami after they defeated Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in the final.

The Whitecaps were the first club in North America which legendary Zimbabwean ‘keeper Bruce Grobbelaar played for before his move to Liverpool.

The success in the MLS Cup, which is the championship title in the United States, was the 44th senior title for Messi.
