SCOTTLAND president Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya is tipping Dynamos and Hardrock for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title despite his side leading the race at the moment.
The reigning champions lead second-placed newcomers Hardrock, who have played a game more, by four points and enjoy an eight-point advantage over Zimbabwe football giants, Dynamos.
While this gives Scottland an edge over Hardrock and Dynamos in what has become a three-horse race, Scott believes current momentum and upcoming distractions might work against his side.
Dynamos are the only unbeaten side in the second half of the season while Scottland suffered their second defeat of the season away to Highlanders on MatchDay 24.
Speaking to his club’s inhouse magazine show, Scott feels Hardrock and Dynamos have recruited well during the mid-season transfer window and will be determined to put up a huge fight in the remaining nine MatchDays.
“I see a situation where Hardrock and Dynamos can go all the way and win this year’s league title. We might be on top at the moment, but the distraction of the CAF Champions League might be costly to us, depending on the draw.
“Hardrock now have a very strong squad, look at Prince Dube who has been on fire since joining them. Dynamos have been unbeaten for a while now and they seem to have gotten even better under their new coach. So it can either be Dynamos or Hardrock for the title,” said Scott.
Scottland have a tricky home assignment against MWOS at Rufaro Stadium tomorrow and it remains to be seen if coach Norman Mapeza will unleash the remaining midseason signings.
So far, only defenders Emmanuel Jalai and William Nyasulu have been officially unveiled while the window officially closes today.
Scottland and MWOS have a rivalry that stems from their 2024 Zifa Northern Region Soccer League campaign, which the Scotts snatched on the last weekend of the season to gain promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
MWOS later acquired the PSL franchise for ZPC Hwange to also join the PSL for the 2025 season, which Scottland went on to win while the Norton side settled for second place.
