SCOTTLAND made HISTORY on Sunday when they became the first Zimbabwean club to keep a clean sheet in their first THREE matches in the CAF Champions League.

The Mabvuku side defeated Petro de Luanda 2-0 at the National Sports Stadium in a game which they should have won by a bigger margin had they taken all their chances.

Given that this feat has come on the 39th attempt, in which 12 other local clubs had tried, and failed, to keep a clean sheet in their opening three games, it deserves to be praised.

They are the third Zimbabwean club to avoid defeat, in their first three games of their debut appearance, in the CAF Champions League.

They have matched the efforts of Gunners in 2010 and Black Rhinos in 1985.

Both Rhinos and Gunners, though, did better than the Scotts as they won their opening three matches in their debut season in the Champions League.

Gunners’ run of three straight wins, in their first three matches, was even more impressive given that in their third game on March 20, 2010, they beat Africa’s best club, Al Ahly, 1-0 at Rufaro.

The late Norman Maroto scored the only goal of the game and was named Africa’s Player of the Week.
