NOT so long ago, a new fierce rivalry arrived in the domestic Premiership – Scottland versus MWOS.
It actually started in Division One when the two sides fought a battle royale for the sole ticket into the top-flight league.
Scottland eventually won that race but after a lot of drama, which even spilled into the ZIFA boardrooms. The rivalry went a gear up in the Premiership when the two sides, once again, found themselves fighting for honours.
And, for some time in the first half of last season, it appeared like MWOS would find themselves on the winning side.
However, the arrival of Knowledge Musona, during mid-season, at Scottland changed the script and, by the end of the campaign, the Mabvuku side finished seven points clear of their rivals.
MWOS fans know that, without Scottland in the picture, their team would have been Division One champions and, last year, won the PSL title.
The rivalry between the two sides now appears to have lost some of its steam, with Scottland now focusing on bigger battles against the likes of Dynamos, CAPS United and Highlanders.
However, at Rufaro tomorrow, it will come in a different shape when Scottland host MWOS Under-19 in a Munhumutapa Challenge Cup Round of 16 game.
You can call it David versus Goliath if you want.
The MWOS Under-19 side are actually doing very well in Division One but they also know that this will be a tough one for them.
They have nothing to lose, which means they can play with freedom, while Norman Mapeza can get the chance to use some of the players who desperately need some game time.
Cup games are tricky and the veteran coach knows that.
The MWOS development side would probably have been happy to face Scottland Academy.
But the Scottland Academy were handed a 0-6 thrashing by CAPS United in the Round of 32.
