SDA Church announces new top leadership for Matabeleland region

THE Seventh-day Adventist Church has announced its new top leadership for the western region covering the two Matabeleland provinces and Bulawayo during the Church Session being held at Solusi University.

Seasoned clergyman, Pastor Bongani Ndlovu, has been elected president of the Zimbabwe West Union Conference with Pastor Taddius Nkanyezi as executive secretary, and Mr Ashely Ncube coming in the chief financial officer for the period 2026-2030.

This is the third session since the unbundling of the church’s single union conference in Zimbabwe to create three new unions – Zimbabwe East, Zimbabwe Central and Zimbabwe West to decentralise the mission for higher impact.

The Zimbabwe West Union Conference is in charge of two conferences – the West Zimbabwe Conference and the South Zimbabwe Conference.
The ongoing session will also nominate directors for various departments within the church.

Besides the elections the session reviews work done by the church through its various departments in the past years and plans for the future.
The SDA Church is one of the biggest congregations in the country running a number of health, and educational institutions across the Zimbabwe.
