  • Coffer Dam at 65 percent
  • Dam foundation clearing 95 percent

Overall Progress: 16 percent

Benefits

— Completion of Ziminya Dam will open the path for the growth and expansion of Nkayi

— It will lead to the opening up of 1 250 hectares of irrigated land in the area.

— This will go a long way in the transformation of livelihoods in Nkayi

— Irrigation will help improve food security for surrounding communities, and lead to improved standards of living for people

— The dam will bolster water supplies to Nkayi Centre.

— The dam project also includes the construction of a bigger and modern water treatment plant.

— Fisheries ventures will be undertaken

— Power generation will also be done using water from the dam

— Recreational activities will be undertaken on completion
