Second Republic to upscale development projects — Cde Mohadi

ZANU-PF Second Secretary Cde Kembo Mohadi has said the Second Republic will continue to up-scale the implementation of various development projects across the country once it is re-elected next month as it surges towards the realisation of Vision 2030.

Addressing scores of party members at Silalabuhwa in Insiza District, Matabeleland South province yesterday, Cde Mohadi said the Second Republic has achieved a lot in a short period of time.

He said the revolutionary party requires a resounding win in order to maintain its development momentum.

Cde Mohadi said the Second Republic has set life-changing targets in various sectors such as agriculture, mining, water, infrastructure development, and power supply.

He said constituencies and urban wards which were under the opposition party lagged behind in terms of development.

President Mnangagwa launched the national election campaign in Chipinge recently, and the ruling party is now working round the clock to woo voters with the message centred on the various projects that the Second Republic has championed.

“As the New Dispensation, we are development-oriented, we don’t just make empty promises, but we bring development. That’s why we set the Vision 2030 target which is anchored on the National Development Strategy 1,” said Cde Mohadi.

He said the Second Republic is also doing remarkably well in improving food security at household level through the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme.

Under Pfumvudza, the Second Republic has managed to assist 1,8 million households with inputs.

“In order to attain Vision 2030 we came up with the Climate Proofed Agriculture Programme known as Pfumvudza/Intwasa to mitigate the effects of climate change and to ensure that people can harvest. We didn’t stop there, but we also started building dams to ensure that communities engage in irrigation farming,” said Cde Mohadi.

Some of the dams have been completed while others such as Lake Gwayi Shangani are under construction.

Cde Mohadi said Government is also developing the country’s road network to support economic activities.

He said as part of President Mnangagwa’s agenda of leaving no one and no place behind, all 35 000 villages are set to receive boreholes to support market gardens and have access to clean water.

“In order for us to continue with this development work, come 23 August, we want you all to go and vote for development and peace as that’s what the Zanu-PF party stands for. Let’s build our country through development,” said Cde Mohadi.

“In order for the nation to develop we need to develop the education sector. That’s why we introduced Education 5.0 which focuses on innovation and technology.”

Cde Mohadi urged the electorate to be wary of the opposition which is bent on misleading people and reversing the gains of the liberation struggle.

He assured the community of Insiza District that it will not be left out of Government’s development agenda. Cde Mohadi said projects such as the development of Silalatshani Irrigation Scheme in Insiza is one of the Government’s top priorities as it seeks to ensure a food and nutrition-secure nation.

“We know that Zanu-PF will win the election because it’s a Government that delivers, but we want as many votes as possible. We are looking forward to a 90 percent victory margin,” he said.

“If we obtain all the seats then we will be able to fulfill our development mandate undeterred. We have a number of political icons that hail from Matabeleland South such as the late Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo and it’s up to us to honour their great work.”

Cde Mohadi said Zanu PF gave birth to Zimbabwe and it is the revolutionary party that should also work towards upgrading the urban areas, which were run down by the opposition.

He said for years, urban councils have been run down by the opposition, adding that the electorate should now vote them out and restore cities such as Bulawayo and Harare to their former glory.

He called for unity of purpose among party members and tasked all candidates representing the party at various levels in the upcoming elections, to have the interests of people at heart.

Cde Mohadi said Zanu-PF is a development-oriented and people-centred party.

“Zanu-PF is noone’s property, but it’s the party of the people. Whoever is representing us is representing the party and not themselves,” he said.

“As we continue with our campaigns know that we are doing them on behalf of the party and our visionary leader President Mnangagwa.” — @DubeMatutu
