A SECOND transfrontier park, Zimoza is on the cards as Zimbabwe is engaging its two neighbours, Mozambique and Zambia to benefit from its flora and fauna in the Zambezi Valley.
In an interview on the sidelines of a tour of Kanyemba on Monday, chief environment officer in the Ministry of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Mr Joseph Shoko said they were now at an staged of coming up with a Memorandum of Agreement with their counterparts in Mozambique and Zambia.
“We have had several meetings with officials from the two neighbouring countries, where we agreed to come up with a draft of the project. The drafting stage is almost complete and once completed, we will be announcing the launch of this project. This is a multi-million dollar venture that will create a lot of employment to people of the three countries. This will also boost tourism arrivals in the three countries and enhance cooperation in the conservation of fish and wildlife in this area,” said Mr Shoko.
He added: “We want the park to operate in the same manner as the Gaza area where Zimbabwe joined hands with South Africa and Mozambique to run a transfrontier park.”
