SECURITY GUARD IN TROUBLE OVER DRUGS

A SECURITY guard at a gold mine in Nyanga landed himself in deep trouble after undercover detectives busted him while in possession of unregistered medicines.

Reggie Nyahwema, 44, of Musekapadzuru Village, Chief Katerere, who is employed as a guard at Juro Ngirishi Mining site, appeared before Nyanga magistrate Notebulgar Muchineripi.

Nyahwema, who was not legally represented, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Muchineripi ordered him to pay a US$100 fine or he will serve 30 days behind bars.

Prosecutor Nyasha Sesenyai told the court that detectives pounced on Nyahwema, searched his cabin and found 200 Aliviador tablets, which are not registered in Zimbabwe.

The tablets have a street value of US$20.

“On April 28, 2026, and at around 6pm, detectives from Criminal Investigation Department Nyanga, who were on patrol at Nyaungwe Mining site in Ruwangwe approached the accused person, who was sitting alone, at the mining site.

“A search was conducted inside the room leading to the recovery of 200 Aliviador tablets which are unregistered medicines in Zimbabwe.

“Accused person was requested to produce a license from Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe and failed, leading to his arrest.

“The accused person and the recovered and the recovered unregistered medicines were taken to ZRP Nyanga for further management.”
