Security guard tries to kill employer over US$8

A BULAWAYO man (38) was sentenced to 12 months in prison for attempting to kill his employer over US$8 in unpaid wages.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, “Patrick Ndlovu (38) was employed as a security guard by the complainant. On 16 January 2024, the two had a misunderstanding over US$8 which the accused believed was owed to him as unpaid wages by the complainant.”

Ndlovu hit the complainant with a plank several times on the head and the face.

“He was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which 2 months was suspended. The remaining 10 months was wholly suspended on condition that the accused person performs 350 hours of community service”, said the NPAZ
