Zim dancehall sensation Seh Calaz who riled fans over his statement on promotion of violence through music has since apologised to the nation. Seh Calaz whose real name is Tawanda Mumanyi said he was sorry and would never promote any form of violence. “First and foremost, I would like it to be known that I am sorry. As an artiste I am against any forms of violence whether domestic, public or gender-based.

“To this end, I would like to offer my apology to the fans, the promoters of Sting 2014 and the nation at large,” he said.
At a Ppess briefing last week in Harare ahead of the Sting 2014, Seh Calaz insisted on singing violent lyrics saying he was good at it.

However, the “Kwatinobva” singer opened up saying as much as he condemns violence artistes were mirrors of the society.
“We sing about what we see and experience in the ghetto but unfortunately, violence is one of them. Our music is meant to raise awareness of what happens in the society. I wish we could sing about what happens in the villages or some other areas but we remain true to ourselves and we sing about our experiences.

“In Jamaica Stings are a platform used by artistes to battle lyrically. That’s what we meant for instance, Vybz Kartel and Mavado clashed at a function in full view of the police commissioner. These artistes sing about drugs, sex, women, parties among other things. However, the perceived ‘beef’ is nothing but lyrical and not physical,” Seh Calaz said.
He said people should understand the difference between singing and promoting violence.

Organised by Chipaz Promotions, Sting 2014 is scheduled for the City Sports Centre on November 8.
The theme for the event is “Say No To Violence.”
The show will pit Seh Calaz against Soul Jah Love as the main event.
The two-arch rivals will go tune-for-tune which means that they will both appear on stage at the same time and battle it out.

Seh Calaz who is the protagonist of the “Mabhanditi” will lead his charges against Jah Love’s Conquering Family in a battle for supremacy that promises fireworks.
Between them, there is a rich discography of “diss” songs which are likely to send the crowd into a frenzy during the face-off.

There is also a host other artistes who will settle scores at the Sting. Lady Squanda will go head-to-head with Lady B while Badman will square-off with Platinum Prince. Quonfuzed will battle Terminator, Jiggaz versus Ricky Fire and last but not least Bounty Lisa will face off X Patriot.

There is also battle of the sounds systems whereby Mighty Ducks will compete against Fyah Links while Black Spider will taken on Red Fox Family.
