The Zanu-PF leadership and supporters in Seke district are looking forward to hosting the party’s national people’s conference in December, and have already started preparing for the event.
In an interview on Tuesday, Seke Rural constituency legislator Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe said the big event would bring development to Seke district.
“It gives us a lot of excitement when such a huge event is being hosted in Seke because this is our first time to do so.
“It means the whole nation and our international friends will be in Seke. It will also bring development to our constituency in terms of infrastructure, schools as well as boreholes.
“Our shopping centres like Dema, Ziko, Guzha, Beatrice as well as Harare South will get a lot of business.”
Cde Kashambe also said they have already set up committees to spearhead the preprations and to fund-raise.
“When we won bid to host conference, we sat down with stakeholders like chiefs and the political leadership and set up our committees which are in line with the provincial committees. We also identified three venues, which are Mandedza Secondary and Murape Secondary schools, as well as Gillstone Primary School. We chose these venues due to their proximity to accommodation sites in Harare and Marondera.
“We are also going to start fund-raising and resource mobilisation,” he said.
He urged all stakeholders in Mash East to put their differences aside and focus on preparing for the conference.
“As Mashonaland East we are saying let us have one heart. I call upon all stakeholders of Seke to put their differences aside so that we host this event successfully.
“This is a momentous occasion because we will be hosting all our senior politicians in one place.”
Mashonaland East proportional representative Cde Tatenda Mavetera echoed the same sentiments and said Seke district was more than ready to host the top Zanu-PF leadership.
“It is a great honour and privilege and we are happy since this has never happened in Seke before. Being considered is what we treasure most,” said Cde Mavetera.
The conference in Mash East will be the second under the new dispensation after Matabeleland South hosted the first indaba in December last year.
