Self-soiling saves woman from abductors

Shurugwi magistrate Mrs Evia Matura was told this yesterday during the appearance of three Gweru men, Charles Nongerai (39) of Block 949 Mtapa, Jimson Chikuni (27) of 117 Mkoba 13 and Stanley

Chirairo (28) of 1209 Mkoba Village 12 who are facing charges of kidnapping and assault.
They all pleaded not guilty to both charges and were remanded in custody to today for continuation of trial.

The three allegedly kidnapped Ms Epiphania Javangwe at her parents’ Tongogara Farm in Shurugwi and drove her to Gweru where they subjected her to different kinds of torture.

Nongerai, Chikuni and Chirairo, according to court papers, were accusing Ms Javangwe of refusing to reveal the whereabouts of her mother who they alleged owed one of them some money.

For the State, Mr Donald Chashaya said on 17 September this year, the three proceeded to Wallclose A2 Mine in Shurugwi while travelling in an Isuzu truck.

Mr Chashaya said when they arrived at the mine, which was owned by Ms Javangwe’s mother, they found

Ms Javangwe with a minor. The three then asked for the whereabouts of Ms Javangwe’s mother but the complainant told them that she did not know, the court heard.

Mr Chashaya said the three grabbed Ms Javangwe and dragged her to their vehicle, assaulted her before they shoved her into their vehicle and drove back to Gweru.

He said when they got to Gweru, the three drove to different shopping centres in the city while torturing Ms Javangwe.

Mr Chashaya said after driving to Ascot, Irvine and Mambo shopping centres, the three later proceeded to Mkoba Village Six Shopping Centre where they locked up Ms Javangwe in their vehicle and started drinking beer at a nearby bar.

When the three accused persons returned to the vehicle they later discovered that Ms Javangwe had soiled herself in the vehicle and they then dumped her at the shopping centre.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the three.
