IT is said sheep live in fear of wolves their entire lives but end up being eaten by the shepherd.

True to the adage, a self-styled prophet with Johane Masowe Apostolic Church in Esigodini allegedly sodomised an 11-year-old boy who is a member of his church.

Khayaelihle Ntini was arrested after the despicable act and has appeared in court facing aggravated indecent assault charges.

Esigodini magistrate Menelisi Linda did not ask him to plead.

He was remanded in custody to 4 January 2024 where he is set to appear at Gwanda Regional Court for routine remand.

It is alleged that Ntini was invited to the alleged victim (name withheld to protect his identity)’s homestead to exorcise goblins that were allegedly terrorising the family.

The court heard Ntini went there and cleansed the homestead. On the same day in the afternoon, he returned to his homestead.

It is reported that in the evening the victim’s uncle left for Bulawayo and asked him to sleep at the prophet’s homestead.

The boy went to sleep at Ntini’s place and during the night he (Ntini) woke up and went to where the boy was sleeping and allegedly sodomised him.

Apparently, battling the goblins had awakened the paedophilic fiend in him.

On the following day, the boy returned home and after a couple of minutes, his father also arrived from Lupane.

The boy narrated the ordeal to his father who accompanied him to the police station and reported the incident leading to Ntini’s arrest.

Nokukhanya Moyo appeared for the State.
