Senator lines up free medical outreach

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira has lined up a free medical outreach programme for residents and villagers in Makonde, Mhangura and Chinhoyi at the end of the month.

In an interview last week, Minister Mupfumira, who is also Makonde Senator, said the programme, which is in its second year, will give people free medical attention.

She said 10 doctors had since confirmed their participation.

“The programme started last year and the response was overwhelming, so we have decided to do it annually,” said Minister Mupfumira.

“Many people fail to get services because they do not have money and this provides them with an opportunity to get assistance for free.”

During the exercise, patients will be screened for cervical cancer, prostate cancer, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis and eye problems.

Beneficiaries will also get free medication and doctors will visit eight clinics in Chinhoyi and Mhangura.
