Senior Masvingo civil servant Nyede dies

The civil service in Masvingo has been plunged into mourning following the death of Mr Ndeya Nyede who was the provincial acting director for local government services in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.

Mr Nyede (42) was last night pronounced dead on admission at Makurira Memorial Hospital where he was rushed to after collapsing at his house in the city’s Pangolin suburb.

Close associates intimated that he was battling diabetes.

Director for Co-ordination in the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ms Rosemary Chingwe confirmed Mr Nyede’s death.

“We have been plunged into morning after losing Mr Nyede last night who was a committed civil servant. He collapsed at his home and was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead,” she said.

Ms Chingwe said the Mr Nyede assumed his latest role in February.

He formally served as the district development officer for Zaka where he is remembered for championing various development projects credited for transforming the socio-economic face of the district.

Ms Chingwe said burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
