Police in Zvishavane have arrested a suspected house breaker who has been linked to 21 cases.
The thief targeted groceries as well as clothing items and blankets that he stole from washing lines.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest of Nyikadzino Tsuro (38) from Chivi in Masvingo.
“The suspected house breaker was arrested on July 8 in Zvishavane as a culmination of investigations efforts by Zvishavane police.
“The suspect was identified as Nyikadzino Tsuro of village Muzvidziwa, Chief Madyangove, Gongwa area in Chivi,” he said.
Insp Mahoko said of the 21 cases investigations have linked him linked to, eight were thefts of clothing items from washing lines, another eight were breaking
into premises, three were thefts of property kept in durawalls at residential premises and two were through opening of locked doors by use of duplicate keys.
” Total value stolen is US$6 858 and through his indications police managed to recover stolen property valued at US$3 526. The offences were committed mainly in Low density areas and other surrounding residential suburbs in Zvishavane.
“Most recoveries were made in Mhondongori village, Zvishavane from people who had bought the property from him,” he said.
Insp Mahoko urged members of the public to take note of the manner in which the crimes were perpetrated in these cases and put in place mechanism to avoid falling victims in the same way.
