SEVEN cattle were killed by unknown suspects at Denver Farm in Bulawayo.
Five of the animals were skinned and their meat left at the scene.
The incident came to light on August 28 at around 11AM after a 33-year-old man from Cowdray Park overheard passers-by talking about cattle carcasses that had been discovered in a bushy area at Denver Farm.
The man went to the area to investigate and discovered several cattle carcasses, some skinned and others still unskinned.
He subsequently made a police report. Assistant Inspector Ndlovu, the deputy police spokesperson for Bulawayo, said police attended the scene and established that seven cattle had been killed.
“Police attended the scene and observed that the unknown accused person used an unknown object to kill seven cows, skinned five of them and left the other two unskinned,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.
She said all the meat was left at the scene.
Three of the cattle had the owner’s brand mark, which could assist in identifying the animals and their owner.
The total value of the stolen cattle was US$4 200, while property worth US$1 300 was recovered.
No arrests have been made so far and investigations are continuing.
Asst Insp Ndlovu appealed to anyone with information that may assist in identifying or locating the suspect(s) to come forward and report at any nearest police station.
