ZIMBABWE Sevens chairman Donald Mangenje says Zambia have confirmed they will host the Castle Sevens next month. The tournament has now been scheduled for September 7 to 8 at the Lusaka Showgrounds. Mangenje said the Castle Sevens was previously set for May 25, but the venue was occupied and organisers have now set new dates.
Zimbabwe will be represented by four teams which include the Cheetahs, Goshawks and the national women’s team.
“We are happy to confirm our participation in the Castle Sevens tournament, we are taking four teams to the event, which we are going to use as our build-up for the Middleburg Sevens to be held in South Africa next month.
“The Cheetahs and the Goshawks are the two men’s teams which represent Zimbabwe at the Middleburg Sevens while the women’s team have not yet confirmed their participation,” said Mangenje.
The Cheetahs are the current champions of the Castle Sevens in the men’s section while hosts Zambia are the defending champions in the women’s section.
